Geesus! All that salivating over a miserly seat on the MRT. I don't understand what's the hype about rushing to "chope" a seat. "Chope" is a commonly used alternative word in respect to "book or reserve" in Singapore Context. For the love of God, if you have no manners, grow some. Courtesy goes a loooooong way baby.
Seats are privileges. Transport fares guarantees that you are brought to a destination but doesn’t guarantee you a seat. If children are naughty, we deprive them of their privileges like movies or candy. If adults are uncivilized barbarians, we deprive them of seats. Haha. If we stand day in and day out, our physical body gets used to it with passing time. If we no longer horde the mentality to grab a seat, we would be more gracious in letting the needy sit. I understand that not everyone works at an office job, sitting their arses on the chairs all day long but there’s no need to be rude. There were times when I was worn out and sat on the floor comfortably as there weren’t vacant seats. There were times when I cursed and swear at people who push me out of the way when they were rushing for seats. I refuse to take these in my stride so don’t be surprised when I push back.
Be nice to foreigners alright? They are here for a reason and they do contribute to our growing society. Foreigners exist in every Country and not just Singapore. We tend to feel it more because our Country is small, a dot on the map. If you go overseas, you are also a foreigner in their eyes. Would you want others to respect and be nice to you? Treat others as how you would like to be treated. The earth is round, not square. I don't hate foreigners, but I do hate RUDE people (foreigners or not)!
